Description
The Department of Physics at Emory University invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track or tenured faculty position in theoretical physics to begin in fall 2021. We are particularly interested in candidates who would benefit from and complement the existing strengths of the Department and its affiliates in quantum materials, correlated electronic systems, quantum optics, quantum information science, spin physics, and nanophotonics. Exceptional candidates with interests in other areas of broadly defined condensed matter physics and optics are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD in physics or a closely related field and a documented record of research accomplishments commensurate with their academic rank. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, internationally recognized, and externally funded research program and to demonstrate excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will be part of the growing condensed matter physics and optics group at the department and will benefit from an interdisciplinary environment that includes interactions with the strong programs in soft matter physics, biophysics and quantum chemistry at Emory, collaborations with Georgia Tech and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as well as extensive support and mentoring resources for research and teaching.
